The first production of the Bay Street Theatre Mainstage Season will be “My Brilliant Divorce,” starring Polly Draper.

This will be the American premiere of the play, written by Geraldine Aron, and directed at Bay Street by Matt McGrath. The show opens on Tuesday, May 29, and stages through June 24.

In this one-woman show, divorce can be funny as American ex-pat Angela discovers when her British husband takes off, leaving her to cope with a disapproving mother, a shifty attorney and a bad case of hypochondria.

General admission tickets are $56 and $66. The first preview performance, on Tuesday, May 29, will be a “pay what you can” show for tickets purchased after 2 p.m. at the box office that day. Based on availability, there will be up to 20 tickets sold for each performance for $20 available after 2 p.m. on additional show days, with some exclusions. For additional information, or to make reservations, call 725-9500, email boxoffice@baystreet.org or visit baystreet.org.
