Bay Street Announces Two 2014 Mainstage Plays

author on Nov 25, 2013

Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor has announced its first two shows for the 2014 season.

New Artistic Director Scott Schwartz has selected a new play, “Conviction,” to kick off the theater’s Mainstage Season in late May. The next show will be the classic drama, “The Little Foxes,” which will stage in July.

“Conviction” is a modern drama by Carey Crim about a charismatic, confident and caring teacher, whom students adore and parents admire. But everything changes for the much-loved teacher when a student accuses him of crossing a line.

The show will be produced in association with the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre, Rubicon Theatre Company and Dead Posh Productions. Mr. Schwartz will direct.

“The Little Foxes,” by Lillian Hellman, tells the tale of the scheming Hubbard family, who will do anything in their power to take control of the family business and fortune. The play, written more than 70 years ago, rings as true today as it did when originally produced in 1939.

The third show of the Mainstage Season has not yet been announced but it will be a musical.
