John Jacob Miller of Sag Harbor died February 10. He was 94.
Born in Brooklyn, he had been a local resident of Sag Harbor for the past 30 years. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the United States Coast Guard Intelligence Maritime Security Unit from 1941 to 1945; a candidate for Congress in 1948; and a retired homicide detective investigator with the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office from 1945 to 1983.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Margaret “Peggy”; four children, Linda, Charles and wife Patricia, Jerry and wife Elizabeth, and Regina; and grandchildren, Linda, Keith and wife Christine, Jessica, Dana, Lindsay and husband Christian, Gerard and Nicole; and four great-grandchildren, Riley, Matthew, Kelsey and Grace. He was predeceased by a son, John Joseph, in 2002, and a grandson, John Francis, in 2012.
A funeral Mass was said on February 12 at St. Andrew’s Roman Catholic Church in Sag Harbor. Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the Yardley and Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor.
