Lillian M. Lubben, known as “Dee Dee,” of Sag Harbor died on March 23 at San Simeon by the Sound in Greenport. She was 97.
Born August 24, 1916, in the Bronx, to August and Lillian Kunze, she devoted her life to making a home for her family and volunteering with charitable groups, including 24 years at Southampton Hospital’s thrift shop, from 1974 to 1998. Before she married, she attended Hunter College. She was a member of Incarnation Lutheran Church from 1974 to 1998.
Ms. Lubben is survived by a daughter, Jane R. Lubben of Sag Harbor; a sister, Ruth Kunze of Connecticut; and six nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth J. Lubben; a son, Kenneth W. Lubben; and a sister, Helen Messner. She also leaves behind two service dogs, Sebastian and Rusty, both of which helped her during her stay at San Simeon.
A funeral service took place on March 27 at Christ Episcopal Church in Sag Harbor. Interment was at Oakland Cemetery, also in Sag Harbor. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Yardley and Pino Funeral Home.
