Sag Harbor, East Hampton And State Police Respond To 'Unfounded' Domestic Incident

Dec 6, 2018 12:19 PM

Multiple police departments were called to an apartment on Sag Harbor’s Main Street last week for a reported violent domestic incident that turned out to be unfounded.

According to Sag Harbor Village Police, officers were dispatched to the apartment at about 1:45 a.m. on Wednesday, November 28. Police said the 911 caller threatened to harm family members and responding officers at the scene, causing village police to activate the East Hampton Emergency Services Unit, which consists of members of the East Hampton town and village police departments. Members of the Southampton Town Police Department’s Emergency Services Unit were also called to the scene, along with New York State Police troopers, a K-9 unit from the Suffolk County sheriff’s office, and hostage negotiators from the Suffolk County Police Department.

The call was then deemed unfounded after a thorough investigation and search of the area. The State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation is still continuing the investigation.
