There is a little less music in Sagaponack these days now that 836 Sagaponack Main Street has changed hands. Why is that? Because the sellers are Erica and Antonio Reid. The latter, some of you fellow music aficionados may know, is the longtime record producer L.A. Reid, who now has $9 million more in his pocket thanks to the home being bought by Mosbeard LLC.

The sale was reported this week by the Real Estate Report Inc.

About the property: The 5,778-square-foot residence has six bedrooms and five baths. A big plus is it sits on 3.27 acres of prime real estate. The couple purchased the property in February 2006 for $10 million. About Mr. Reid: The 62-year-old producer is the founder and co-chairman of Hitco Entertainment, and previously he was the chairman of Epic Records and the Island Def Jam Music Group. Among the artists he has written for and produced are Toni Braxton, Outkast, Mariah Carey, Paula Abdul, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Kanye West, Usher, Jennifer Lopez, and The Jacksons. His first foray into the music business was as a drummer in his native Cincinnati. Want to know more about this prolific producer? Three years ago, Mr. Reid published a memoir titled “Sing to Me: My Story of Making Music, Finding Magic, and Searching for Who’s Next.”

As it turns out, there was just a sale in Sagaponack for even more money—$9.5 million, to be precise. Brian R. Lee is the new owner of 79 Ericas Lane. The 8,700-square-foot manse on 1.4 acres has seven bedrooms and 9.5 baths and is two blocks from the ocean. The two-story paneled entrance hall and great room with its coffered ceiling, fireplace, and French doors opens to 3,600 square feet of stone terraces. The chef’s kitchen has separate living and breakfast areas, custom-designed cabinets, stone countertops, Wolf gas range, Sub Zero refrigerator/freezer, two dishwashers, a wine cooler, a microwave and Miele built-in coffee maker. The formal dining room, junior master suite with fireplace, and library with white oak paneling complete the first level. The second floor has a large master suite with fireplace, balcony, master bathroom with radiant-heated stone floors, steam shower, and freestanding Bain Ultra Air soaking tub plus three additional en suite bedrooms and a large bonus room. The finished lower level features a spa-like fitness center with full bath and steam shower, a sauna, a lounge with fireplace, a wine room, a theater, a powder room, two guest rooms with bathroom, and a second laundry room. Outside, the expansive stone terraces allow for multiple entertaining spaces, a grill, a cabana with kitchenette and bar area, and access to a full bathroom. The pool and spa are situated in the lawn area adjacent to the sunken tennis court.

Hamptons Rental Market Remains Alive and Well

To paraphrase Mark Twain, reports of the demise of the Hamptons summer-rental market are greatly exaggerated. “Any hint that the Hamptons rental market is anything but robust is completely wrong,” said Corcoran associate broker Gary DePersia in East Hampton. An interesting dynamic is stirring in the Hamptons vacation-rental market. Although there has been an unprecedented rise in short-term rentals and the aftershocks of the COVID-19 pandemic linger, it has been a bumper crop year for Wall Street, interest rates have remained steady and a new breed of demanding customer is emerging. Despite it all, the Hamptons vacation-rental market remains as ... 19 Jun 2025 by Joseph Finora
