Actors Wanted For 'A Raisin in the Sun.'

Sep 9, 2019 3:36 PM

Bay Street Theater is holding auditions for its upcoming Literature Live! production of “A Raisin in the Sun,” and local actors are encouraged to audition.

The script calls for an African-American male who looks about 10 years old (can be ages 9 to 12) and who is fond of acting, even if he’s had little experience.

In the role, he will perform with professional actors who are members of Actors Equity Association (AEA).

Bay Street will also be auditioning roles for several African-American adults, both male and female, ages late teens through mid-60s, as well as the role of Karl Linder, a 35- to 50-year-old man of White/European descent. All adults auditioning must be members of AEA.

Auditions will be held at Bay Street Theater at the corner of Bay and Main streets in Sag Harbor on Thursday, September 19, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., (lunch break from 1 to 2 p.m.). Actors should bring their equity cards.

Please prepare one side from the script for the audition, which will be provided at the EPA (Equity Principal Auditions). Sides will also be available on the Bay Street Theater website baystreet.org.

Contract dates for the show are October 21 to December 1, 2019. Lydia Fort will direct the production. No phone calls please.
