On October 10, the AIA’s New York State chapter recognized Bates Masi with an award of merit for “Mothersill,” a single-family home in Water Mill. “Mothersill” also won a Builders Choice and Custom Home Design Grand Award at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., on October 14, at which the firm also scored a merit award for another residential project, “Pierson’s Way” in East Hampton.
An Archi Award for Excellence in Architecture came from the AIA’s Long Island chapter on October 15 for “Elizabeth II,” a home in Amagansett, and “Pierson’s Way” also earned an Archi Award Commendation.
Meanwhile, “Sagaponack House” has been recognized with a Watermark Grand Award. The Sagaponack home will be featured in a three-minute film/advertisement starring the supermodel Gisele Bundchen and directed by Baz Luhrmann of “Moulin Rouge” and “The Great Gatsby.”
The firm’s monograph, called “Bespoke Home,” will be published in spring 2015 with an introduction by architecture writer Paul Goldberger.
