The Madoo Conservancy in Sagaponack will turn into a whimsical garden market with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, a live auction and 25 distinguished dealers in rare plants, garden antiques, home accessories, antiques, fragrance, skincare and fashion on Friday, June 16, and Saturday, June 17.
The conservancy is dedicated to the study, preservation, and enhancement of Madoo, the horticulturally diverse garden with historic structures established in 1967 by the late artist, gardener and writer Robert Dash.
Much Ado About Madoo, the conservancy’s seventh market and cocktail benefit, will include an unveiling of Mr. Dash’s paintings depicting Sagaponack homesteads as well as New York City interior designer Sasha Bikoff’s vintage glassware and tabletop accessories available for purchase. A sunset garden party and market preview is Friday, June 16, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $200, or $150 for Madoo members. The garden market will then be open Saturday, June 17, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $20, or free for members. Saturday includes a discussion with garden photographer Betsy Pinover Schiff and Fund for Park Avenue President Barbara McLaughlin at 9:30 a.m., for $100, as well as “Once Upon a Time at Madoo,” a family program highlighting the art and horticulture of the garden, from 3 to 5 p.m. for $25.
The party celebrates the 50th anniversary of the garden and the completion of the $1.1 million historic restoration of the Summer Studio. The studio will be open for viewing the exhibition of Mr. Dash’s paintings.
