May 22, 2013 10:50 AMBy Erin McKinley The Southampton Village Volunteer Ambulance Corps has been named the agency of the year by the Suffolk County Regional Emergency Medical Services Council.
On Tuesday night, Southampton Village trustees congratulated Mark Klinger, chief of the ambulance company, for the achievement, saying that it is quite an accomplishment.
“We are very impressed,” Southampton Village Mayor Mark Epley said during the May work session. “We appreciate the number of times you leave your family dinner tables to go and try to do a save. We are very fortunate for people like you who volunteer your time.”
During the meeting, Mr. Klinger said the company is very happy with the recognition, which specifically mentioned a Cardio-Pulminary Resuscitation, or CPR, program that the company is developing. He said the group will continue working hard in the future, and the award could not have been successful without all of its members.
“We couldn’t do it without all of your support,” Mr. Klinger said. “This award has been a long time coming, with a lot of hard work and dedication from many, many people.”
