I'm sure it was the Mercedes making a right turn. Upscale car owners think they always have the right of way

Ignorant post.

People coming from the direction of Agawam making the left onto Hill Street ALWAYS cut off cars making the right onto Hill Street at this intersection. They speed right at you as if they have the right of way. I have almost been hit several times and I'm surprised there aren't more accidents there.

I'm glad the accident was not worse and the children are OK.

This is for hamptonsnrcit: I drive a Mercedes (used) and am a local resident. I do not feel I am an "upscale" car owner nor do I feel I "always have the right of way". I do use judgment and do not discriminate of the basis of anything. Perhaps you might give that some thought.

That intersection is a nightmare. I very often have to make the left turn from Agawam onto Hill Street, and while I don't speed up to make the turn, it can be challenging to make that left turn - between the people from Windmill turning left onto Jobs, or going straight across - it can be a very small window of opportunity to make the turn. I'm not saying it's right to speed up, but I also see plenty of times when I'm in the midst of making the left that people turning right from Windmill to Hill ...more

There's nothing wrong with that intersection...except for the drivers using it. Turning from Agawam to Hill just put on your turn signal and move to the center of the intersection; when any southbound traffic passes, complete making your turn. Cars turning from Windmill to Hill have the right of way over those going from Agawam to Hill.

Any traffic turning from Windmill to Jobs should be passing you to both of your right sides. There is certainly no reason to speed up and all this is ...more

I agree that the problem rests with the drivers using it - unfortunately, despite my doing exactly as you indicate when trying to turn from Agawam to Hill, there are always people who either don't use their turn signal, or they decide at the very last second (probably because they see how backed up the traffic is) not to turn onto Jobs but don't bother to turn off their signal and just dash across. And while turning right from Windmill to Hill does have the right of way, given the non-stop stream ...more

7 children in the car? Pretty spacious car

Bet there were kids without seat belts and car seats-I'm also amazed there are no names of the drivers-cover up.

There have been a lot of comments that have just disappeared lately. Not sure if One of the drivers identified himself in a comment just above but it has since been removed in it's entirety. Not sure if there is a glitch in the 27East software or if the censors are now removing all evidence of a post.

Yes - wondering if any of the children were wearing seatbelts - doubtful in a jeep and doubtful for that number of children - driver with seven kids without seatbelts already breaking the law...

Additionally I do understand the Mercedes rant above - those of you with the old Mercedes are NOT the offenders - who usually leave their cars out of season at your East End home - these are the newer cars the critic was referring to am fairly certain - and generally speaking - the more expensive the car - the less the owner knows how to drive.

Unless you are one of our undocumented drivers driving without a license your employer's SUV and when you hit-and-run a woman (a nun for God's ...more
