It has not been a good summer for the Jitney

I witnessed this accident, the car cut off the Jitney and was struck in the rear quarter propelling it into the opposite lane of traffic, thank God there was no oncoming traffic as it spun multiple times and ended up in the west bound lane.

Quite fortunate there wasn't any on coming traffic. Death Road 39 would have claimed another couple of victims if there was.

... CR 39's downsizing a few years back left the road too dangerous for vehicles the size of a Jitney to traverse. The Jitney hasn't had a bad summer, the road is the problem.

A few years back, Hampton Jitney wanted to use the rail lines and were turned down. Traffic could have been alleviated, and they could run light rail cars, and make better time, as well as better service than the MTA.

The Jitney keeps a lot of cars off our roads. They run hundreds of runs each day. What is needed is for drivers to pay attention.

Idiotic drivers are the problem not the Jitney. Do our summer visitors drive like this when they go back to wherever it is they come from? Speeding, weaving through traffic, u turns on Jobs Lane, running red lights and my all time least favorite, signaling a left turn and cutting off traffic going straight through a light to avoid waiting! There are places where that could lead to serious consequences for the discourteous driver.

Jitney drivers are not the greatest. Ive seen them blow past me at 50mph(+?) on 39 in the left lane. Hopefully you never get blasted by their rear view washer.

You are absolutely correct! I thought visitors came out here to relax. Instead, they are as impatient behind the wheel of a car as they are in the stores! I say "slow down and enjoy life."

My personal favorite(s) was not once, but twice making a left in the right lane leaving the village by 7-11 to head West on 39 in a Kenworth, not only did a small pickup make a right turn from the left lane into Mobil across the nose of the truck, a Crown Vic with PA plates did it again within a week.

Nothin' like summer in the Hamptons...

The car may or may not have cut the jitney off, however most of the jitneys on 39 are doing well over 50 in the 30mph zone. That's a fact, not an opinion.
