Tuckahoe School To Host Free Vision Screening For Students

Oct 19, 2015 4:27 PM

On Tuesday and Wednesday, from about 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., the Tuckahoe School will offer free vision screenings for students.

A licensed optometrist from Smart Vision Labs, a company that offers eye exams via a smartphone-based exam device, will be coming to screen the students at no charge to the district. The exams are estimated to take about 8-10 minutes per student.

Tuckahoe School Nurse Wendy Meyer said it will be exciting to see how Smart Vision's technology works.

“The good news now is that I can send them to get glasses … and I can get them glasses much quicker," she explained. "And because it’s free of charge, it’s much better.”
