Southampton Town Police responded to Southampton Hospital on Wednesday morning after they said a woman received a call that her adult child had been kidnapped and was being held for ransom.
According to Sergeant Michael Burns of the Town Police, it appears the incident was a phone scam. The woman, who has not been identified, was told that her child would be returned after the caller received $300. Police responded to the hospital where the woman’s child was found to be working and unharmed. At this time, police are investigating the incident as a scam.
