Travelers to and from the East End now have a new option available, with the addition of a “7 Bus” stop in Southampton Village.

The new luxury bus line stop, which was added on July 1, expanded the 7 Bus Company’s route to the South Fork. In the past, passengers could travel east from Manhattan only as far as Riverhead, Melville or Ronkonkoma. Due to popular demand, a new stop was created.

According to Mike Schoolman, president of the 7 Bus Company, each 44-passenger bus is equipped with leather seats, personal cup holders, wi-fi, and power outlets for each passenger. He said that prices typically start at $17 and increase based on demand, meaning the last seats sold on the bus will cost more than the first ones. Tickets can go up to as high as $25 per way.

Currently, the bus has three scheduled drop-offs and departures per day at the Southampton Long Island Rail Road station at the intersection of North Main Street and Powell Avenue. The bus trip, which leaves Southampton for Manhattan at 7:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., typically takes just over two hours. Buses leave 40th Street in Manhattan for Southampton at 9:40 a.m., 1:40 p.m. and 5:10 p.m.

“We were operating the 7 Bus service in Melville, Ronkonkoma, and Riverhead and got a lot of requests to put something in the Southampton area,” Mr. Schoolman said. “We wanted to do something to get service to our customers.”

According to Mr. Schoolman, the current limited service is only a starting point, and buses will be added to the route as it becomes more popular. The service will be year round, and seven days a week, he said.

Anyone looking to make a reservation for the bus can visit the website 7bus.com or call 631-725-7777. Schedules and current pricing are available through both.

“This is a low-price alternative for people that is still a very comfortable way to get to the city,” Mr. Schoolman said. “There are stops along the way, but it doesn’t take up a tremendous amount of time.”
