“Working,” a musical based on the book “Working: People Talk About What They Do All Day and How They Feel About What They Do” by Studs Terkel and now staging at the Southampton Cultural Center, is a dancing and singing homage to the job—be it iron working, office work, housework, and everything in between.
The overreaching theme of “work” is a thread that runs through the show—not surprisingly, since that’s the name of the musical. Throughout the play, the characters express their different perspectives of the American dream, via their various professions.
