The intersection at County Road 39 in Southampton Village near the proposed supermarket. DANA SHAW
A proposed Southampton Village law intended to pave the way for a supermarket on Hampton Road appears likely to see some revisions after taking a public pummeling.
The measure calls for a change to village code to allow supermarkets to be built on parcels zoned highway business. It is being considered, primarily, because the chain The Fresh Market has an arrangement with the owners of the Hampton Road parcel, the Glennon family, to build a grocery store there. The Fresh Market already lists the 630 Hampton Road address as a “coming soon” location on its corporate website—something that Village Board members said openly at a meeting on Tuesday that they were not pleased with.

90% of which will most likely pay minimum wage (7.25/hr), or at the most $9.00/hr. Try living on $200 a week, and get back to us.
But I know quite a few people who work minimum wage jobs...Some are young, and it's their first job...Some are older and have to supplement their fixed income...And some have it as a second job because they need it to get by. I know others who are out of work who would be happy to have any job.
You know what's worse than trying ...more to live on $200/week? Trying to live on $nothing/week.
just listen to how you try to engineer capitalism.
I for one will be there from the moment they open.
Frankly, Trader Joe's isn't all that, get over it !
If y'all let this one get away from the community it will be a big loss. If the Village wants to continue to have a responsible businesses within it's bounds then take it from me and all the other residents of Southampton who spend the winter in the area of The Villages of N/Central Fla. I'm sure Kathleen would not put her product in a lesser quality store. And I am so happy to have Tate's Cookies here where I can ...more buy them.
Not all of us are as concerned with the price of arugala as our Dear Leader Obama was in 2008!
What were we talking about? Oh that airplane hanger called a museum!
How long were you held captive in the Fresh Market reeducation camp?
Wake up !!!
It does not matter one WHIT what market is proposed for this location.
The location is probably the WORST place to put a food market in Southampton Village.
Are you brain-dead?
If God and Jesus proposed to open the Market of The Almighty here (with a guaranty of the Life Eternal), it would STILL be a terrible location.
Fiddle On !!!
Keep re-arranging deck chairs on The Titanic !!!
"He Who Has the Gold, Makes the Rule."
Perhaps this location would be a perfect spot for Bay Street Theater?
Fiddlers, unite!
"Take paradise........... "fougedaboudit. it's already been took.
Before you start asking what ...more aisle the broccoli is in, think about CR39 on any given day, before green-lighting this one!!
