The manager of a Southampton laundry created a “sexually hostile work environment” for female employees and then retaliated against them when they complained by, in some cases, firing them, according to a lawsuit filed on Monday by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
The suit claims that Rajindra Singh, the general manager of Suffolk Laundry Services on County Road 39, physically and verbally harassed multiple female laundry workers at the facility over several years. It states that Mr. Singh regularly touched women inappropriately, forcibly kissed them, and made sexual comments about their appearance and body parts.
