Southampton School District is well represented at prestigious music festivals this year. Chorus, band and orchestra students have been invited to perform based on a combination of receiving a high adjudication score at the annual New York State School Music Association solo festivals and a teacher recommendation.
On Sunday, February 5, Southampton Intermediate School students Robby McKnight, Benjamin Zaloga, Kivlan King, and Julia Kepczynska and SHS students Jessica McKnight, Benjamin Hoertnagl-Pereira, Conor Kiembock, Mariah Neknez, Christian Oliveros, and Rory King performed with the Long Island String Festival Association orchestra.
The Suffolk County Music Educators Association hosted its music festival concerts on Sunday, March 11. Representing SIS in the SCMEA Middle School Chorus were Dylan Pappas and Katharine Rus. Southampton High School students Dylan Blue, Kayla Matters, and Greg Nanos sang with the SCMEA High School Chorus. The SCMEA Middle School Band had the talents of SIS students Maxine Loebs, Christian Oakley, Dylan Elliston, and Elijah Wingfield, and in the SCMEA High School Band were Nick Burke and Caroline Rumph. SIS students Robby McKnight, Amaiya McDonald, Tommy Malone, Sebastian Pereira, Maggie Purcell, Benjamin Zaloga, Julia Kepczynska and Kivlan King performed with the SCMEA Middle School Orchestra, and SHS students Benjamin Hoertnagl-Pereira, Connor Kiembock, Jessica McKnight, Mariah Neknez and Christian Oliveros performed with the SCMEA High School Orchestra.
Benjamin Hoertnagl-Pereira earned the esteemed concertmaster position within the SCMEA High School Orchestra and Jessica McKnight sat in the first chair position for the second violins.
Robby McKnight sat in the first chair position for the second violin section of the SCMEA Middle School Orchestra.
