hird-grader Kylie Scalera of Water Mill was the first-place winner in the Primary Spelling Bee, closely followed by her classmate Deirdre McCallen of Southampton. Akaelianna Gilbert and Michael Surozenski, both of Hampton Bays, placed third and fourth, respectively.
Registration for the 2013-2014 school year is now open to parishioners and community members. Parents who may be interested in considering preschool at St. Rosalie’s campus or kindergarten through grade 8 at the Southampton campus are urged to request information packets as soon as possible. Seating is limited, with waiting lists in several grades. Tours and interviews will be scheduled upon request.
The new Wellness Center at the school is scheduled to hold its first physical education classes during Catholic Schools Week. The public will have its first view of the extensive gym space during the special weeklong celebration.
Catholic Schools Week will be observed from January 25 through February 3. The opening social event will be the Family Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, January 27, featuring a full hot breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon. Tours of the school will be available as well as an initial welcome to the new Wellness Center. All are invited for breakfast and a special opportunity to see the school.
The OLH parents will sponsor a gala cocktail party to celebrate catholic Schools Week at Oakland’s in Hampton Bays on Saturday, February 2, from 7 to 11 p.m. Reservations may be made at the school, 283-9140.
The eighth grade class will sponsor and serve a special family Spaghetti Supper at the school to benefit the new Wellness Center on Friday, February 8, from 5 to 8 p.m.
