A man walking westbound on Hillcrest Avenue in Southampton Village was struck last Thursday night, February 28, by a man driving a 2001 GM Jimmy, who left the scene.
According to Southampton Village Police, Damario Braunskill, 30, of Southampton was tracked down after the victim told police that Mr. Braunskill turned his car around and asked the victim why he was on the ground. Mr. Braunskill, who drove off, was found at his home on Hillcrest Avenue, according to Detective Sergeant Herman Lamison.
Upon their arrival, police found the victim lying in the street with multiple head and arm abrasions. He was transported to Southampton Hospital by the Southampton Village Volunteer Ambulance and was later released.
Mr. Braunskill was arrested at 9:21 p.m. at his home and charged with leaving the scene of an accident with a personal injury, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. He vehicle was impounded, police said.
