Jeanne Dzenkowski Willumsen died on January 4 at Southampton Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born on January 28, 1930, to Andrew and Apolonia Dzenkowski of East Marion, she graduated from Greenport High School and then attended Southampton School of Nursing.
She worked at Southampton Hospital in various units, culminating with cardiac care, which was her true passion. Upon her retirement, she was very active at the Southampton Town senior centers. She also did volunteer work at the Parrish Art Museum.
Ms. Willumsen is survived by a brother, George Dzenkowski of Southold. She was predeceased by brothers, Andrew, Joseph and Daniel, as well as sisters, Julia, Natalie, Marcella and Alice. She is survived by four daughters, Linda Jones and husband Jeffrey of Water Mill, Susan Willumsen and husband Leeds Burchard of New Hampshire, Patricia DiBenedetto and husband Joseph of Rhode Island, and Robin Gibbs and partner Jeffrey Miloski of Calverton; and grandchildren, Megan Jones and Jeffrey Jones, Dianna DiBenedetto Clarke and Laura DiBenedetto.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 10, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the O’Connell Funeral Home in Southampton. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by cremation.
