UPDATE: Tuesday, 8:15 p.m.

Police said Erik Siguenzazhaqui, 20, of East Hampton was driving a 2002 Honda with a learner’s permit when he crossed over the center turn lane on Montauk Highway in Water Mill, and into oncoming traffic. He then sideswiped a 2014 Cadillac being driven by Annette Rivera, 57, of Hampton Bays, and then collided head on with a 1995 Chevrolet Suburban being driven by Arnoldo Perez, 29, of Copiague.

Police said Mr. Perez had two passengers in the car with him, but would not elaborate on who they were. Police said Mr. Perez, his two passengers and Mr. Sigenzazhaqui were transported to Southampton Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Police said Mr. Sigenzazhaqui was given a summons for driving with a learner’s permit without someone in the car.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A vehicle heading westbound on Montauk Highway in Water Mill apparently crossed over into the eastbound lane and struck two other vehicles on Tuesday morning, according to Southampton Town Police.

Don King, the Southampton Fire Department's public information officer, said on Tuesday that four victims were transferred to Southampton Hospital, but could not comment on their conditions.

Police did not have names, ages or the conditions of the victims and said it did not look like alcohol played a role in the accident.

Mr. King said 20 members of the Southampton Fire Department responded to the scene, as well as the Southampton Village Volunteer Ambulance, Southampton Volunteer Ambulance and Bridgehampton Ambulance.

No further details were available.

...with a learner's permit. In other words UNLICENSED. Why does the press have so much trouble spitting that word out? Let's have a big community meeting and feel sorry for him, the victim of a racist society. Get him another car right away so he can hit someone else while he tries to assimilate.
