Members of the 106th Rescue Wing of the Air National Guard, based at Gabreski Airport in Westhampton, met with students at the Tuckahoe School on May 10th to thank the students for their support. While the Guardsmen were deployed overseas, fourth graders at the school prepared care packages and wrote encouraging letters, which were sent to the soldiers stationed in Iraq. When the soldiers returned, seventh and eighth graders from the school posted signs in the area surrounding the air base welcoming them home. During the visit on May 10, the school community was presented with a flag that was flown on a mission from Iraq to Syria. As the soldiers entered the building they received a warm welcome from students and staff members. The entire school community was lined up in the hallways with banners, signs, flags and balloons. American Pride was clearly displayed with colors of red, white, and blue.
