Police: Former Southampton High School Student Threatens School And Teacher On Instagram

Jun 27, 2018 11:04 AM

A high school student was arrested this week for threatening a Southampton High School teacher and the school, according to Southampton Village Police.

The 17-year-old girl, a former student at Southampton High School who now attends Hampton Bays High School, was arrested on Monday at 1:04 p.m. and charged with second-degree aggravated harassment, a misdemeanor.

Police said the girl posted a picture of herself on Instagram on April 2 with what appeared to be an automatic handgun—though it was later determined to be a paintball gun.

Southampton Village Police Detective Sergeant Herman Lamison said the girl’s post read: “F--- you,” followed by the name of the teacher, and “f--- Southampton High School.”

Det. Sgt. Lamison did not name the teacher because that person is a victim, and did not name the student because she is a minor.

The student was processed at Village Police headquarters on Windmill Lane and released with a ticket to appear in Village Justice Court at a later date.
