The Southampton Little League Majors All-Star baseball team won two of its final three games to finish with an even 3-3 record in Pool ‘B’ play of the District 36 Tournament.

Southampton defeated Eastport South Manor, 8-1, on July 3 behind strong pitching performances from starting pitcher Riley Hermann and closer Christopher “Moose” Sullivan. After losing to North Shore National, 11-1, on Friday, Southampton rebounded nicely with a 6-3 win over Sag Harbor on Saturday. Liam Blackmore, Douglas Dunkirk and Riley Herrmann all pitched for Southampton, which used a five-run fourth inning to nab the win, highlighted by a bases-clearing double by Dunkirk.

“We had a great group of boys who practiced and played well together every day, and I loved coaching them,” manager Rob Herrmann said. “We faced a tough schedule that wasn’t made any easier by having to play four games out of six on the road, but the boys kept fighting and ended on a high note by beating our rival Sag Harbor on their home field.

“This was my eighth and final year coaching Little League and I will truly miss it,” he added.

This year’s team included: Travis Deuel, Travis Kreymborg, Douglas Dunkirk, Mason Stevens, Michael Parash, Luke Haley, Riley Herrmann, Daniel McDonnell, Liam Blackmore, William Muller, Luke Mobius, Chris Sullivan, and Charles Davis. The team was coached by Rob Herrmann, Shawn Deuel, and Daniel McDonnell. Minors Miss Out

The Southampton Little League Minors All-Stars finished a win short of advancing in their tournament. They lost, 11-0, to Sag Harbor at Flying Point Field on July 3, to finish with a 1-2 record just behind Sag Harbor, which wound up suffering an 18-1 loss to North Shore American on Friday in the district semifinals.

Bailey Brown, Thomas Crawford, Jack D’Italia, Hudson Fox, Dylan Glanz, Noah Kent, Alexander Mambrino, James Navan, Daniel Palumbo, Tommy Pogue-Guerin, Cooper Sanders, Cole Senior and Kyle Warner made up this year’s team. Sara Kent, Jamie Navan and Kirk Warner were the team’s coaches.
