A section of County Road 39 in Southampton was closed after a motor vehicle crashed into a utility pole on Saturday morning, police said.

The crash occurred at approximately 6:50 a.m., when an unidentified driver heading eastbound on County Road 39 had a flat tire, lost control of his vehicle and struck the pole, causing power outages throughout Southampton Village.

County Road 39 was closed to eastbound traffic from North Sea Road to North Main Street for approximately two hours on Saturday, according to Southampton Town Police.
