Grace Cutting McGrath Lloyd died on April 7 in Southampton after a long battle with cancer. She was 67.
Born in New York City, she was the daughter of Gordon and Grace McGrath and the mother of Watson and Zoe. She was a graduate of Green Vale School, Foxcroft School and Boston University.
A longtime resident of Southampton, she was a member of the Southampton Bathing Corporation and the Meadow Club, where she excelled at tennis and paddle tennis, winning many club tournaments.
An avid athlete, Ms. Lloyd also enjoyed swimming, skiing, biking and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro with her children, to whom survivors said she was devoted. She excelled as a competitive bridge player, “the merest click” away from Gold Life Master status, her family said. They added that her love for the ocean, the beach and the multi-generational family summer house on Meadow Lane were alive in their memory, as were her qualities of loyalty determination, and her buoyant spirit.
In addition to her children, Watson Lloyd and Zoe Lloyd, survivors include two former husbands, Rene Orlean and James B. Lloyd; a sister, Lisa McGrath Evans; and a brother, Gordon McGrath.
A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Southampton on Saturday, May 3, at 11 a.m., followed by a celebration of her life.
