In Southampton, Owner Says Herrick Hardware Is Not For Sale Despite Rumors

Oct 22, 2014 10:39 AM

Despite rumors that an iconic business on a Main Street corner in Southampton Village might be on the market, Noel Hare, the owner of Herrick Hardware, said this week that the store at 41 Main Street is not for sale.

Mr. Hare has owned the store since 1972, when he took over from his father-in-law, Sam Herrick. He acknowledged this week that he had heard some of the rumors, but that the store is not now, nor was it ever, for sale.

He said some of the rumors likely were sparked last year when a nephew came to town, thinking of taking over the family business, but ultimately decided it was not for him.

Herricks is one of my favorite shops in Southampton. Anything you can think of, and very, very competitive prices. Just because it's in Southampton does not mean that is a high-end store.
