Former Southampton Town Planning Board member Margaret ‘Peg’ Caraher of Speonk died on February 2 at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead. A longtime member of the Quogue Wildlife Refuge board of directors, she stepped down as its president last month. She was 62.
Ms. Caraher was a former president of the Moriches Audubon Society and a former member of the Southampton Town Zoning Board of Appeals. She was also a member of the League of Women Voters of the Hamptons.
Ms. Caraher is survived by her husband, Eugene Caraher, and son, Patrick Caraher, both of whom reside in Speonk. She is also survived by her mother, Margaret Smalling of Manorville.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 20, at 11 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Quogue. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Wesche Funeral Home of Center Moriches.
