It is perhaps not surprising that Rob Terry, just 17 years old, has never eaten an oyster.
But the young Mr. Terry, a senior at Mercy High School in Riverhead who lives in North Sea, seems to love oysters. And in his free time during this last summer of secondary school freedom, between work and church activities, he spends his time with his oysters.
As a member of Boy Scout Troop 58, which has boasted several Eagle Scouts in recent years, Mr. Terry is in the final leg of his own push for the hallowed badge that signals a rare level of dedication, diligence and effort.
And his oysters are his offering to the mantle of “Be Prepared.”
