ARF offers free spaying and neutering for Spay Day

Feb 12, 2010 1:59 PM

In recognition of Spay Day, a national campaign created by the Humane Society of the United States to promote the benefits of spaying and neutering pets, from Monday, February 22, through Friday, February 26, the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons will host a free week-long clinic of spay/neuter surgeries for pets of needy families in East Hampton and Southampton.

According to ARF Executive Director Sara Davison, “Spay/neuter protects pet health, improves pet behavior, and lessens the burden on our town animal shelters and the taxpayers.”

This year marks the 16th annual Spay Day. Since the program’s inception in 1995, the number of homeless animals euthanized in the U.S. has fallen from approximately 13.5 million in 1973 to about 4 million currently.

For more information on how to qualify or to make a donation to sponsor a spay/neuter surgery, call (631) 537-0400, ext. 207, or visit ARFhamptons.org.
