An unidentified woman tried to rob the Suffolk County National Bank in Water Mill on Friday afternoon, fleeing the Montauk Highway bank before receiving any money, according to Southampton Town Police, who said Monday that they had no additional information on the case since the failed attempt.
Police said the woman—whom they described as white, in her late 20s, of medium build and with dirty blond hair—walked through the bank’s main entrance shortly after 12:30 p.m. on December 31 and demanded money from a bank teller.
The woman, who did not display a weapon, fled before being given any cash, according to Sergeant Michael Zarro.
