Her husband, Joe Farrell, might have built the seven-bedroom modern farmhouse at 50 Lawrence Court in Water Mill, but Kristen Farrell furnished a warm and cozy interior. The power couple’s 10-year relationship teaming Farrell Building with Kristen Farrell Home Design is now on public view.

They’ve partnered with Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams Home Furnishings to launch a two-week showhouse that’s open to the public from July 29 to August 12. Proceeds from the showhouse will benefit the Sustainable Furniture Council and Kate Kares charities—the latter was founded by their daughter, Kate Farrell, at 9 years old, to help fund the building of schools in underprivileged communities and to support local animal shelters.

“The showhouse is different. It isn’t a different designer in every room. It’s a cohesive, turnkey product,” Ms. Farrell said. “You could walk in and imagine yourself living here—seeing the house and the design and not overwhelmed by 20 different designers.”

The 8,000-square-foot estate is decked out from the second floor down to the basement with eco-friendly, American-made upholstery, furniture, art, window treatments, bedding, accessories and lighting, including additional partnerships with Sherwin-Williams, Baldwin Hardware, Harbour Outdoor, Samsung, Arteriors, Sub-Zero/Wolf and Newport Brass Plumbing that blends color, textures, fabrics and finishes to complete family- and entertaining-friendly spaces, inside and outside.

Walking through the glass front door, vistas from the landscaped manicured backyard—high-end lounge seating, gunite pool and hot tub—can be seen from the double-height foyer and great room.

“In this application, we really wanted to—as you approach the front of the house—get the right style and feel that it’s our Farrell Building/Farrell Home take on a classic Hamptons home but done in a modern way,” Ms. Farrell said. “It’s understanding that folks that buy homes in the Hamptons are here for a reason. They are accustomed to this look, style and feel, and how are we interpreting that and making it look fresh and sleek.”

Mind the doormat; the oak floor is pre-engineered to preserve the color integrity of its natural finish and uniformity throughout all three floors. That is, compared to the dark floor finishes of yesterday. There is a real farmhouse sense achieved from the 8-inch-wide planks.

“Everyone wants to feel a little lighter, little fresher, a little more natural,” she said. “The level of product adaptability is fostering the addition of the outdoor living. From the building perspective, we want the flow.”

Through the foyer and into the open layout great room and dining room area, you are greeted with soothing hues on the Hunter sofa and chairs, a cooper return swivel chair, and classic Parsons cocktail tables with dark bronze bases and tempered glass tops, alpaca pillow in an array of textures mixed in, charcoal throws and a granite Terra rug. A Samsung smart television hangs above a sophisticated fireplace.

The kitchen is complete with a Wolf full-range stovetop, Sub-Zero appliances and marble counter space. From the Astra bar stools at the bright kitchen island, a much darker and richer color in the dining room can be seen to the right.

The walls are coated with Ms. Farrell’s new custom paint collection by Sherwin-Williams. The kitchen, dining room and some family spaces are home to palettes featuring Hamptons White, Skyline Light Grey, and Byron Blue, along with 21 other hues that are for sale at retailers. The dining room table is really two classic parsons tables pushed together. The polished stainless steel-base and white quartz-topped table glimmers under a stunning crystal chandelier set in a nickel frame. A buffet housing a bar and another displaying keepsakes are nearby. The wine isn’t far—around the corner is a wine cooler.

The other side of the main floor is a bit more intimate. On the other side of the cutout fireplace in the great room is a smaller, farm-themed living room with colors of greens and sunflowers on the Santorini cocktail table. The walls are lined with round antique silver mirrors and a framed horse painting. A comfy Franco sectional and Elroy chair with Franny square pull-up ottomans allow guests to spread out in earshot of the kitchen festivities. Eight surfboards painted by different local artists are nearby, but not permanent; those were sold during a silent auction on Thursday, July 26.

In the the master suite on the main floor, a classic four-poster Sussex bed is complemented with textured shagreen and warm wood finishes. The linens are pearl stitch. The drapes are Spencer pewter. A Carmen cube ottoman is situated at the foot of the bed.

Private label towels and candies produced by Kristen Farrell Home decorate the vanity and the soaking tub in the private master bath.

The same vibe continues in the guest suites on the second floor which boast mona sofettes and ottomans, linear hide throw pillows, regis tall beds and celeste duvets. Two suites have doors that open onto terrace seating.

The basement, however, is for relaxation and unwinding before bed with a sink-in Big Easy sectional, Kirby chairs and muffet tuffet ottomans. Off the main room is a quiet spa room. Not tired? There’s a ping-pong table and a gym on the other side next to a home theater complete with Franco media sofas and Tilton recliners. Under toe is carpeting by Prestige Mills.

“This has been an amazing design process and amazing installation process—just such a synergistic teamwork effort,” Ms. Farrell said. “We also brought in Harbour Outdoor, who is our outdoor partner. They have a beautiful product and are new to the Hamptons. One of our goals is to really introduce what a Hamptons house could look like with one clear vision.”

As National Safe Digging Month begins, PSEG Long Island reminds customers, contractors and excavators that the law requires them to call 811 before digging to ensure underground pipelines, conduits, wires and cables are properly marked out.
