Theresa E. Rice of Juno Beach, Florida, died May 11, 2018, surrounded by her family, at Sylvan Rehabilitation Center in Clearwater, Florida. She was 95. Local services are this weekend.
Born November 14, 1922, she was predeceased by her husband, Herbert L. Rice, and her parents, Karl and Maria Ernst.
Mrs. Rice was a Florida resident who enjoyed winters in Juno Beach. She was a member of the Everglades Club, the Society of the Four Arts, and a director of the Palm Beach Cancer Society. In the summer, she returned to her Water Mill home. For 17 years, she volunteered as a candy striper at Southampton Hospital, for which she later served as a trustee. She was a member of Shinnecock Hills Golf Club as well as the Southampton Golf Club. She was also a trustee and an honorary board member of the Washington Crossing Foundation.
During her lifetime, she traveled extensively and enjoyed many cruises with family and friends. She was an avid bridge player.
Mrs. Rice is survived by a son, John A. Mangin Jr.; daughter-in-law C. Grace Mangin; adopted son, William L. Willard; daughter-in-law, Sue A. Willard; grandchildren John A. Mangin III, William L. Willard Jr., Marie Mangin Rush; and great-grandchildren Holden Rush and Celeste Rush.
A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 6, at 10:30 a.m. at the Basilica Parish of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Southampton; Msgr. Richard Lopez of Atlanta will officiate.
. Interment will follow at Edgewood Cemetery in Bridgehampton.
Memorial donations may be made to the Southampton Hospital, the Basilica of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Southampton or St. Paul of the Cross Church in North Palm Beach.
