Student musicians are working in harmony to reinstate two jazz bands in the Westhampton Beach School District that were cut last year due to financial constraints.
Aiming to raise the necessary funds to reinstate the programs themselves, students have teamed up to present a jazz benefit concert at the Westhampton Beach High School auditorium this Friday, January 27. The curtain goes up at 7 p.m.
Faculty and students alike will perform at the show, said Luke Jurow, 15, a sophomore, who has worked with fellow jazz aficionado and high school junior Riley Owens, 16, to organize the event, which is free. Donations are encouraged and a Chinese auction has been organized to help raise funds.
