Westhampton Beach Village Police said Tuesday that they will file a misdemeanor DWI charge against the driver that caused a head-on collision on Old Riverhead Road nearly three weeks ago, an accident that injured three people, once he is released from the hospital.
Police said Pasquale Decicco Jr., 32, of Shirley was driving a 2003 Volvo north on Old Riverhead Road just after 5 p.m. on June 27 when he crossed into the southbound lane of traffic and struck a 2006 Ford van being driven by Danny Land, 60, of Speonk. Mr. Decicco, who was seriously injured in the two-vehicle crash, had to be extricated from his car by the Westhampton Beach Fire Department before being airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital.
