The Westhampton Beach Board of Education has appointed a new assistant principal to serve at both the elementary and middle schools this week, roughly two months after the former assistant principal unexpectedly resigned.
Maria Dorr, a current supervisor of the English Language Arts, Reading and English as a Second Language Department for the South Huntington School District, will be taking over the position effective December 3 with a starting salary of $105,000 per year. On Monday night, board members approved the appointment, 6-1, with Gordon Werner casting the lone dissenting vote.
