Robert David Schweitzer, DDS, of Westhampton Beach and Fort Lauderdale died at his home in Fort Lauderdale on January 14. He was 83.
Born on April 1, 1930, in New York City to Jerome and Dorothy Schweitzer, he graduated from Riverdale Country School in 1947. He then attended Tufts University in Massachusetts and later obtained his doctorate of dental surgery from the University of Pennsylvania Dental School.
Survivors said he will be remembered for his kindness, fairness and generosity to family, friends and those in need. He honorably served his profession with passion and fortitude, providing his patients with the greatest of care, they said. He was a man of many avocations and interests; however, his most passionate hobby was gardening.
Dr. Schweitzer is survived by his wife, Rosa; a brother, Jerome of Westhampton Beach; two sons (born of his first wife, Patricia), Robert Jr. and wife Annette of Connecticut, and Kenneth and wife Kathy of Connecticut; four grandchildren, Julia, Alexa, Annaliese and Mariella; four stepchildren, Brad, Lisa, Malory and Rodney; and four step-grandchildren, Noah, Mia, Conner and Ryan.
