Byron Bell Jones of Westhampton died October 1 at the Westhampton Care Center. He was 88.
A native of Port Washington, Mr. Jones graduated from Port Washington High School and served in the U.S. Army in Germany after World War II. After his service, he returned to Long Island and became an auto mechanic. In 1971 he moved his family out to Westhampton. Known as the “Lawn Master,” Mr. Jones was an avid gardener, as well as an artist and model ship builder.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elaine; two sons, Glenn and Mark; a daughter, Lisa; daughter-in-law, Lynne; and two grandchildren, Sean and Kayla Jones.
There will be a graveside service on Friday, October 7, at 1 p.m. at the Westhampton Cemetery.
