Kathleen Coyle Sweet of Westhampton Beach died at home on May 9, 2018. She was 91.
Born in the Bronx, the first daughter of Charles and Mary Coyle, she was 19 when she met Westhampton Beach resident Allan J. Sweet at a friend’s wedding. The couple started their marriage in the Bronx and moved to Westhampton Beach in 1960 to raise their growing family.
Survivors said, Mrs. Sweet gave each of her children the gift of unconditional love, adding that she was also a “prayer warrior” for them us, specifically praying for each of her children by name every day.
In addition to her husband, Allan J. Sweet; she was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Mary Coyle; and her brother, Charles Coyle.
She is survived by five children, Maureen (John) Porta, Christopher (Kathy) Sweet, Ronnie (Steven) Bidder, Gerry (Jeff) Roberts, and Tara (Tom) Smith; 12 grandchildren, Erika Smith, Kirsten Mett, Alex Sweet, Eric Sweet, Jake Sweet, Seth Bidder, Marc Bidder, Kate Bosse, Scott Roberts, Matthew Smith, Kathleen Smith, and Alyssa Smith; and 13 great-grandchildren, Julia Smith, Kevin Smith, Shannon Sweet, Kate Sweet, Ellie Mett, Andie Mett, Dane Sweet, Nate Sweet, Leo Bosse, Nora Bosse, Elliott Bidder, Talia Bidder, and Reed Bidder.
She is also survived by her sister Rita (Bunny) Bass and her family.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Werner-Rothwell Funeral Home. A funeral Mass took place at Immaculate Conception Church on May 14, 2018. Interment will be at a later date.
