Anne Warner Halsey, a longtime resident of Westhampton Beach, died April 25, 2018. She was 88.
Born on September 11, 1929, in East Hampton, she was the daughter of Elmer and Lucille (Harris) Warner. She moved to Westhampton Beach when she was 9, following the death of her mother and her father’s re-marriage. She attended Westhampton Beach schools where she excelled in math, science and athletics. She met Benjamin Griffing Halsey during her junior year and the two were married a year later on December 15, 1941. During her lifetime, Mrs. Halsey was a stay-at-home mom, a real estate broker for Henry Meeker, Katherine Kammerer and Neil Rego and a nursing assistant for Dr. Donald Keller at the Westhampton Beach medical and nursing home facility.
Later in life, she became a home health aide for local families, such as Jay Graham, Anne Colt and Lillian Goldstein. Survivors said that she derived much happiness from caring for others.
Mrs. Halsey was predeceased in 1998 by her husband of 52 years, Benjamin G. Halsey Sr.; her sister, Lucelle Parker; her brother, Elmer Warner Jr.; and her half-sister, Judith Haberland.
She is survived by her five children, Benjamin G Halsey Jr.(Robin), Gary B. Halsey (Mary), Thomas W. Halsey, Charlene Halsey Mascia (Allen M. Smith ) and LuAnn Halsey Burke; grandchildren, Heather Halsey (Colby), Melissa Halsey, Amanda Becchio, Benjamin G. Halsey III, Nicole Halsey Rakes (Jeremi), Staci Hadley (Steve), Justin Potter (Bambi), Robert Mascia (Lauri), Christopher Mascia (Jamee), Dakota R. Smith, Jacob A. Smith (Jeanne), David M. Smith (Shelly), Karol Bruschi, and Sarah Burke and Ryan Burke; and many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the Beach United Methodist Church in Westhampton Beach on July 3, at 11 a.m.
