Larry G. Swenson of Westhampton died on January 16 at the Hospice Center in Bonita Springs, Florida, from complications due to a stroke. He was 83.
Mr. Swenson was born in Queens Village, New York, in 1931 to Hedvig and Samuel Svenssen, both of whom emigrated from Norway. After enlisting in the Air Force during the Korean War, he spent more than 30 years in the field of public education as a teacher, guidance counselor, administrator and adjunct college professor, serving as president of both the Western Suffolk and East End guidance associations. Following retirement in 1986, he spent winters in Florida and summers in Westhampton, enjoying boating, golf, travel, reading and most of all the company of family and friends. Survivors said his intellect, wit and warmth will be miss by those who knew him.
Mr. Swenson is survived by his wife of 34 years, Candee; a sister, Elsie; two sons, Timothy and wife Katie, and Andrew and wife Teresa; and two grandchildren, Amanda and Alyson.
