CNN anchor Anderson Cooper closed last week on the sale of his waterfront home on Quiogue. The price was $2.975 million, Enzo Morabito of Douglas Elliman, whose team listed the property, confirmed.

Mr. Morabito said he does not know the buyer, but that “to like that house you have to be a really special person,” meaning that it is not a cookie cutter Hamptons’ home at 20 St. George Place. “It’s a cottage,” he said of the 3,800-square-foot dwelling. “You feel like you’re in a cottage on the water on Long Island; it could be 100 years ago.”

In fact, Mr. Cooper’s home on Aspatuck Creek was built in 1928 as a sporting club—most likely for hunting ducks and geese—for the St. George estate. A hunting island created at that time comes with the property, which totals 3 acres. The 4-bedroom, 3.5-bath home was fully renovated and includes a pool and hot tub, decks, stone fireplaces and Viking kitchen appliances.

Mr. Cooper is also selling his other house on Quiogue, at 12 St. George Place. Currently in contract for almost $2.6 million, again with Douglas Elliman, it used to be the home of the screenwriter Budd Schulberg and also has been fully renovated, in part with guidance from the designer Gloria Vanderbilt, who is Mr. Cooper’s mother.

According to Mr. Morabito, Mr. Cooper, who lived at 20 St. George Place, now is spending most of his time in Connecticut.
