A New Jersey man was arrested by Southampton Town Police over the weekend and charged with unlawful surveillance after a woman told police she suspected that he had used a remote camera to watch her in the bathroom. Southampton Town Police arrested a man who allegedly stabbed a passenger aboard a Suffolk County Transit bus on Friday afternoon and then fled on foot. Just before 4 p.m., the bus had left the County Center and was traveling south on County Road 51 in Riverhead when the suspect, 23-year-old Rene Alexander Elias Chaj of Mastic, stabbed the victim with a knife and then ran, according to police. New York State troopers are investigating a bullet-riddled vehicle found on West Gate Road on the Shinnecock Territory in Southampton on Wednesday morning. Police said the 2006 Chrysler Minivan was unoccupied when it was discovered and no injuries were reported. It was discovered between 10:30 and 11 a.m. The investigation is ongoing, and troopers ask anyone with information about the minivan to call 631-756-3300.
