RSVP Inc offers $200 for dog foster homes

Apr 7, 2010 3:48 PM

In an effort to encourage the adoption of homeless dogs that have waited extended periods to be adopted, Responsible Solutions for Valued Pets (RSVP) Inc. is offering a $200 per month stipend for suitable foster homes.

Rescue groups are finding that, during these trying economic times, more people are being forced to turn their pets over to animal shelters and while the rate of homeless dogs has increased, the number of people willing to adopt has decreased. As a result, some dogs have spent many months waiting to be adopted. That can present other problems that deteriorate the dog’s physical and mental well-being, including limited exercise, human interaction, boredom and more.

RSVP encourages all to consider this temporary foster care arrangement. Donations are also needed. Call (631) 728-3524 or visit RSVPinc.org for more information.

I have room for another rescue animal but not the money for any extra vet bills. I've been offered the use of 15 acres but I need fencing, gates and lean-tos. I can muster volunteers/friends to do labor because so many are underemployed.
