Election: Sagaponack School Board
Profession: Owner, The Press News Group
Joseph P. Louchheim is running unopposed to retain his seat on the Sagaponack School Board. It would be his second three-year term on the board.
Mr. Louchheim, ...more the owner and publisher of The Southampton Press and The Press News Group, is currently the School Board president. He is a native of Sagaponack and attended the Sagaponack School.
Mr. Louchheim said that among the district’s priorities in the coming years will be appealing to parents with elementary school-age children who live in the district to send their kids to the two-room schoolhouse rather than to private schools. The school currently has approximately 18 students; about two-thirds are from within the district and one-third pay tuition to attend school from outside the district.
Sagaponack School District voters may vote on the district’s $1.7 million budget and for School Board candidates on Tuesday, May 15, from 7:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the schoolhouse.
