Man arrested for sexual abuse

Are you kidding me? Sexual abuse in the first degree, unlawful imprisonment and forcible touching merit bail of only $1,000? Judge Cahills' decision to disregard the recommendation of the District Attorney to set bail at $10,000 is unacceptable. Whether the defendant is a flight risk or not (and how would she know), what message is she sending the community regarding such heinous crimes? I will remember this on election day." Hammerle quits as finance panel’s liaison

I wonder why Pete isn't angry with Bill and Ted for not showing up when Bill said THEY would be there. The community is clamoring for transparency and Pete is complaining about it. The constant attempt to put off the bad news is futile, it will all come out in the end. The Town Board should be doing all they can to help the BAC get a handle on finances now. Instead they are making them wait until the DA and Comptroller are done with their investigations and there is no longer any way to stonewall the news. I would suggest that the BAC begin filing FOIL applications for information immediately so that there will at least be evidence of each thwarted attempt. Good luck to them, it won't be easy." Hults faces felony charges; probe's focus turns to supervisor's office

This is a sad day for East Hampton, not Ted Hults. Ted ABSOLUTELY committed a crime knowingly as Laura Molinari expressly told him and Bill that it would be illegal to use CPF to cover shortfalls in the budget. They did it anyway. Ted ABSOLUTELY committed a crime knowingly when he hoodwinked potential investors by lying about the financial health of this town. The "group" that is happy about this is the entire town which has to foot the bill for all the incompetence and malfeasance. " Jun 12, 09 10:03 AM

First of all I would like to ask who you are Amahalo? In order to engage in effective and civilized discourse people should know who they are talking to. The reason we know that Ted and Bill were warned is that he has already told the DA that is the case. The strong words are coming from the DA and State Comptroller, not me. It was stated in court that he has already signed two confessions. You should read the press releases from both that would clearly enlighten you to the facts. And who are you to say that I want to see our town brought to such a low level? I most certainly do not! It is a tragedy and I am simply happy to see the beginning of the end of it. I bet Ted would appreciate support from people who are willing to put their name to it. Why don't you want us to know who you are? You sound so proud of your opinion, why not take credit for it?" East Hampton Town Building Inspector, Don Sharkey, found dead at 47

Farewell to a true gentleman. This town lost much today. Bye Don, good luck on the other side! See you there." Jul 6, 09 8:50 PM

East Hampton Town councilwoman could face charges for interfering in arrest

Speaking from firsthand experience I can tell you that MANY police officers drink and drive. So do doctors and lawyers, judges and town board members, teachers and highway workers. I have worked in quite a few local restaurants and have seen this countless times. Of course it matters in East Hampton who you know if you get pulled over. An off duty police officer can drive around with a six pack and pass through checkpoints undisturbed. And of course those lucky enought to carry a PBA card from a friend who is a police officer have little to worry about. And then their are those who are friendly with the judges getting a different brand of justice. " Mar 9, 10 3:58 PM

Allegations of physical, verbal abuse target East Hampton Town highway superintendent

"When you hear the names of the people involved, you'll figure it out"? The name Barry Forde brings to mind a hardworking, local, family man. He has worked in that department for years. Scott King should not besmirch Barry's name to cover his own shortcomings. Scott has shown himself to be a small minded, arrogant person before. That odious incident with the sign on election night says it all. I would also like to know why those police reports were not published. Very strange!" May 25, 10 10:59 AM

East Hampton Town targets taxis

I just had to respond to the posts from MADD mother. As a longtime friend and patron of the Talkhouse I take issue with her alleged observations. The impression she leaves could not be more wrong. The Talkhouse is a vibrant part of the community. Peter not only brings us world class entertainment but holds countless benefits which support local people and causes. There are always cabs out front and the hardworking staff does a great job of steering people to them. The comment about the locals being worse than the out of towners is ridiculous. As one of them I can tell you that many of us share cabs regularly when we have a few drinks. Using this article about double parked limos to launch into a diatribe against an institution which contributes so much to the community is unfair and absurd." Sep 11, 10 9:31 AM
