Hampton Bays Residents Question Library's Proposed Bond Referendum As Vote Nears

Actual cost : $647,000.00 per year for 30 years equals $19,410,000.00. My great grandchildren will be paying this off. Hampton Bays young people can't afford to live here now. When will this insanity stop?? Check your tax bill, We are paying more for the library than police. Yes, it is true!! Hard to believe. Vote NO,NO,NO!!!!!" Mar 8, 17 3:50 PM

RE: Joe Maggio. The library is NOT the "heart of the community". Our HB library is more like a halfway house for convicted violent felons. Do some investigating Joe. Ask LaVista about some of the regulars who flop there. Why did LaVista find it nesessary to pay for a security guard? " Mar 8, 17 4:11 PM

Re: Infoseeker. What did you try to say???? Your writing skills are comical." Mar 9, 17 3:17 PM

The 9.9 million is the loan principle. The actual cost is $19,410,000.00: $647,000.00 per year for 30 years =$19,410.00. Please read the ballot before voting. The true cost is written on the ballot. This is a 30 year bond loan. Do not burden your children with this totally unnecessary taxation. The taxpayers of Hampton Bays just voted down the 15.9 million boondoggle 5 months ago. This action by the library board is a disgrace. Please vote NO on Tuesday, March 14." Mar 9, 17 3:48 PM

Everyone please read the Southamton Press editorial. They too are against this 19 MILLION DOLLAR TAX placed upon the HOMEOWNERS of Hampton Bays. Please vote NO on Tuesday." Mar 10, 17 2:26 PM

I have spoken to many Hampton Bays residents who are registered voters. Many of them did not know about the library bond vote. Everyone said they would vote NO. Please, ladies and gents, inform your neighbors, friends and relatives about this outrageous 19 MILLION DOLLAR TAXATION without representation. The library empolyees, LaVista and the library board are well organized. A propaganda compaign is being conducted by LaVista and the board. Signs produced at taxpayer expense. Having the vote in March so that many taxpayers are unaware of the vote. Very disgusting tactics being perpetrated by the appointed library board. The grassroots must get out the NO vote. WE did it before and we are being forced to do it again. That's right LaVista "the people have spoken" (your quote) and you didn't listen. We shall speak again on Tuesday. Listen this time. " Mar 11, 17 1:14 PM

Infoseeker: Highly likely that you work in the computer room at the desk . The computer services you listed will still be provided without taxing the Hampton Bays homeowners 19+ MILLION DOLLARS. We are not trying to close the library. Your actions WILL close the library. How long will the library be closed while it is being "gutted". Where will the cons and derelicts hang out. You know who they are and so do I. I have investigative skills and many resources including criminal data bases, informants etc. The library IS a halfway house. " Mar 12, 17 12:36 AM

Infoseeker: To answer your question, yes, I do use the library, alot. You know me by sight, trust me, you do. " Mar 12, 17 12:50 AM

HB Proud: The principle is 10 MILLION, the total cost over 30 years is 19+ MILLION. I have taken a good look at the 12-13 year old roof. Wish mine looked that good. If there is a leak then fix it for a couple thousand. Dont believe anything the board and LaVista claim. They exaggerate and lie. The homeless bums go in there to get warm. There is plenty of heat and A/C. What time did LaVista finally get to work yesterday . Re: Even Flow, " Invasion of privacy", I laughed out loud on that one." Mar 14, 17 8:27 AM

Hampton Bays Library Postpones $9.9 Million Bond Referendum Vote; Reschedules For April 4

Sharkbait: The answer to your question " Why the rush" is that LaVista and the board want to get the vote in before the snowbirds return. That is the only reason. LaVista claims that in order to buy the house behind the library they must act fast due to contract terms. Are you kidding? The owner of that dump will sell at any time for that high price. Don"t believe a word they say." Mar 17, 17 3:27 PM

Excellent comment HB Proud. Ladies and gents lets stop believing and repeating the 9.9 million dollar lie. As HB Proud and myself have stated: THE COST IS 20 MILLION; 10 MILLION principle and 10 MILLION debt service( better known as INTEREST) . The fed has just raised the subprime, therefore the bond interest rate just went up, therefore the debt service will most likely exceed 10 MILLION. Dont put this debt on your children. " Mar 20, 17 7:50 PM

Hampton Bays Library Schedules Two More Informational Meetings Regarding $9.9M Bond

To HB Proud: Don't let them wear you down. You're doing a great job. Great comments. " Mar 21, 17 9:27 PM

9.9 million is just the principle . Total cost over 30 years is 19+ million. Everyone who attends the two upcoming info meetings at the library should ask LaVista about the true cost for this boondoggle. " Mar 21, 17 9:34 PM

To HB Proud, Could it be possible that the board could do such a thing? Maybe LaVista will tell us why we are dealing with Sandpebble. East Hampton taxpayers lost millions dealing with Sandpebble in legal costs and settlement to Sandpebble." Mar 22, 17 1:27 PM

Lavista used the house purchase as an excuse to have the vote in the dead of winter. She said they had a contract to buy the house with a time constraint therefore had to have the vote in March. Baloney. The owner will sell that dump at the very high price offered by the board no matter how long it takes.. THE REASON FOR THE WINTER VOTE: SNOWBIRDS. The board is afraid the taxpayers who are out of town for the winter will vote no. The library has a core vote of their employees, relatives and friends who will vote yes. The lower the turnout the better chance they have of winning." Mar 23, 17 5:17 PM

THE ACTUAL PRICE TAG IS 20 MILLION DOLLARS, NOT 10 MILLION. Make Lavista and the board tell the truth at the next meeting. The Southamton Press should print the true on the front page." Mar 23, 17 5:34 PM

Hampton Bays Library $9.9 Million Bond Referendum Vote Scheduled For Tuesday, April 4

No competitive bids? Sandpebble still trying to squeeze more money out of the Easthampton Town taxpayers and yet LaVista is insistent on using Sandpebble without bidding. Did LaVista employ Sandpebble for a prior taxpayer funded project? If so, an investigation should be conducted regarding the relationship and prior business dealings between LaVista and Sandpebble. " Mar 28, 17 4:25 PM

UPDATE: Hampton Bays Taxpayers Reject $9.9 Million Library Referendum

Hey G: HAVE YOU SEEN OUR TWO FIREHOUSES, three beautiful schools, Ponquogue bridge and beach, gorgeous King Kullen center, Scottos, La Parmigian Restaurant, Edgewater Reataurant, Buckleys Bar, Oaklands and Sundays Restaurant, our outstanding Main Sreet and new beautiful Good Ground Park and last but not least our great 7-11, etc. etc. etc. G do you live in Hampton Bays? Open your eyes and think, PS Our current library is also a beautiful building thanks to the generous taxpayers and donors of Hampton Bays." Apr 4, 17 6:00 PM

Voted NO. Also today I made many phone calls reminding all my relatives, friends and associates to vote no, They all said they would do so. I am pround to say I got out about 20 no votes. They also networked to get out the NO vote. If we lose this vote something is corrupt. I will never accept an approval of this outrageous, no bid, waste of TAXPAYER dollars. " Apr 4, 17 6:11 PM

Way too many employees at the HB library. Reports indicate 50 plus. LaVista will not tell the exact number. Staff at the library should not exceed 10. I have seen as many as 4 woman at the check out desk. At night 2 at the computer room desk. Joe is listening to the Yankee game and the girl talking on the phone to a friend. A fat security guard who can hardly walk. If there's a problem call the town police. Usually there is an officer less than a mile away at the firehouse." Apr 5, 17 6:56 PM

Driver In Hill Street Crash Will Be Arraigned Next Week After Grand Jury Examines Case

To G: You were wrong regarding the library bond and your description of Hampton Bays. You're wrong again. Little Jacob boy is going upstate to prison, hopefully to Danermora. Have you seen Danermora State Prison? Not nice. Reminds me of a horror movie. Uglier than sin. Little Jacob boy better not drop the soap. " Apr 6, 17 6:16 PM

UPDATE: Hampton Bays Taxpayers Reject $9.9 Million Library Referendum

Twice the taxpayers have spoken with landslide rejections of the library boondoggle waste of taxpayer dollars. Within 24 hours of a humiliating defeat, the library website posts that they will continue to disrespect the Hampton Bays taxpayers by pursuing the purchase of the adjacent property. LaVista, Zimmerman, its not about what you want, its about what the taxpayers want. You work for us. You are arrogant and disgraceful. Both of you should resign your positions in disgrace. You have harassed and demeaned the good citizens of Hampton Bays long enough. " Apr 6, 17 6:38 PM

Re above; Little Jacob boy is also holding a beer bottle. " Apr 8, 17 9:05 PM

Driver In Hill Street Crash Faces Manslaughter Charge, Was Traveling 78.3 MPH At Impact, According To Prosecutors

To Mouthampton the LICKER: What have you been licking now, hallucinogens? Little Jacob boy was racing at 78.3 mph into oncoming traffic. Telling the jury about seatbelts will only anger them even more. Little Jacob boy is going Upstate, the longer the better. If Little Jacob boy was a man he would plead guilty and spare the loved ones the agony of a trial. But Little Jacob boy is not a man, he is a selfish little boy. " Apr 13, 17 9:31 AM

Hampton Bays Library Officials Still Pursuing Purchase Of Adjoining Lot

La Vista and Zimmerman need a clubhouse. How much will it cost to "gut" the dump? More employees, more maintenance, more tax dollars wasted.
The parking argument is a diversion. There's sufficient parking. They use the parking argument as a ruse. What they really want is a CLUBHOUSE. " Apr 14, 17 4:04 PM

HB Proud: Please elaborate re: "Mexican Consulate". I cant find the recent bulletin.. The 390Gs for 3 Argonne is just the tip of the iceberg. La Vista and Dimmerman will want 5 to 10 million to "gut" and rennovate 3 Argonne. Why should their clubhouse not be palacial ? Parking has never been a problem." Apr 18, 17 9:55 PM

Thanks HB Proud for your quick response, I hope everyone knows about this. Why is it "Good News". to the average Hampton Bays Taxpayer? Why is the Mexican Consulate coming to HB? Please LaVista tell this hard working HB taxpayer why this is"Good News" ? " Good News" will be when you and the board resign and get your hands out of my pockets." Apr 19, 17 12:04 AM

Right on HB Proud. LaVista and her 50+ babysitters have a hard time justifying their existence. Consulates at the LIBRARY, another poor attempt to look busy. Next will be bring your pet day and then pet babysitting. Parking is NOT a problem. If LaVista believes there is a parking problem she should order her 50+ babysitters to park on Ponquogue Avenue. Employees should park in front of the library on Ponquogue Avenue on both the east and west sides, about 15-20 legal spots. Go in the front door. Rarely do I see a car parked in these spots. " Apr 19, 17 3:55 PM

Vote down the library budget until the board agrees to ELECTED trustees. Only about 200 people vote for the budget each year. We could easily organized as we have in the past two bond votes to defeat the budget easily. NO VOTE NO BUDGET. Hit them in the pocketbook. The arrogant board needs to go. They should resign in disgrace. They are truly void of reality and common sense. Typical tax and spend liberals. They live in Disneyland with tinkerbell." Apr 21, 17 12:53 PM

The library is showing a movie today Friday 4/21 at 2pm. Isn't that nice. A working taxpayer can't go to a 2pm matinee, he or she has got to WORK to pay library taxes and bonds. So who goes to these movies? Somebody who doesn't have a job obviously. So now the library is a movie house. When will the insanity end? " Apr 21, 17 1:05 PM

ad923: Opening the library after 5pm sounds great to me. Good idea. No more free babysitting service, cut back on bloated staff, working people hours, reduces costs, less heating/ac, etc. " Apr 22, 17 3:01 PM

dfree; The marching band should have flown with Southwest to Orlando out of Islip. Southwest practically runs a shuttle to Disneyworld, many flights from McArthur Islip to Orlando every day.
Apparently a majority of the people agree with this writer as indicated by the last two library bond votes. I have nothing against books although paper books kill trees. Besides, I can't burn books, it's against Southampton Town Code, you know air pollution and all that stuff. " Apr 22, 17 3:21 PM

dfree: What's wrong with casinos and Hooters? Have something against beautiful woman displaying their assets? Casinos and Hooters create many well paying jobs.
Trump is too liberal. I voted for Ted Cruz, a conservative. Although Trump is doing a GREAT job so far. Neil Gorsuch on the Supreme Court. Can't wait for the next SCOTUS nomination. We rule the House, Senate, White House and now the Supreme Court. Thank you Obama and Hillary. Blame it on the Russians." Apr 23, 17 12:39 AM

HB Proud, dfree is a high schooler who likes to bloviate on many different topics. He is totally illogical and rambles. Makes no sense. Very sarcastic. He is a young male who thinks he is intelligent. Living at home and no job." Apr 25, 17 1:18 PM

ad923: Meant to say" living at home with mommy and daddy". I have only commented on two subjects: The library bond and the horrible Hill Street 78.3 mph murder, not manslaughter. " Apr 25, 17 2:13 PM

To dfree: I will try to explain the conflict of interest regarding the daycare issue by giving you an example. The HB library offers many services and programs for children. A for profit daycare could easily take advantage of these services by transporting children to the library in their van. Many daycares have less than 10 children and relocating them each day is an easy task. If the owner of the for profit daycare is on the library board he/she might promote and vote for more costly children's services at taxpayer expense. Some of these services and programs might include story time, movies, special guests, art classes, educational programs, language arts, English as a second language, field trips etc. etc. etc. all at taxpayer expense. I am not saying that all this is currently ongoing but the possibility is real. It's a conflict of interest. " Apr 27, 17 12:20 PM

Votors Approve $2.28 Million Hampton Bays Library Budget On Tuesday

2.28 million budget ? Its time for an audit. LaVista will not reveal number of em[ployees. My tax bill shows I pay more for the library than police protection. Check yours if you dont believe me." Aug 21, 17 8:40 PM

Southampton Town Police Detective Sergeant Lisa Costa Settles Discrimination Lawsuit

The MEAN streets of Southampton. These cops have it made in the shade. Overpaid and overweight. One level above a security guard. Never happy. MORE, MORE MORE. La Costa go home and count your money." Nov 25, 17 9:55 PM

What qualifications did Costa have to become a law enforcement officer: education, college, 4 year degree, job experience, military veteran ? Was she physically qualified? Did she get the job as a result of cronyism or nepotism like so many others? How many arrests has she made during her police career,100, 200? Is she the house mouse and never leaves the station house. Is she or was she the PIO? Was she the DARE officer and spend time in the elementary school? Anybody know?" Nov 27, 17 9:56 PM

Quinn is a renter, not a home owner and therefore does not pay PROPERTY TAXES, school or town taxes. He calls people racist and clowns. Quinn does not have a wife or children to support. No VOS, Quinn pays rent, not property taxes, big difference. Quinn, his buddies and his landlord are all in violation of town code. Quinn pays a fractional part of rent in a share house. My children go to private school, not Hampton Bays schools." Feb 1, 18 6:47 AM
