We were all very sad to learn of County Exc. Steve Levy's statement last week.
Steve Levy is a tough leader when it came to keeping the tax burden well
controlled and following the Rule of Law and protecting the resident/citizens
in Suffolk County. He stood up to outrageous requests from his Legislature and of course we can all agree to disagree on any subject but I feel he held the line of real input versus nonsense!
Could the allegations against Steve Levy be payback politics from the Democrats?
I can only hope that the Legislature will go forward and hold the line for the people and support the citizens/taxpayer within the County. To Steve Levy
I send my support and wishes for a brighter future! " Mar 31, 11 3:52 PM
We know Suffolk County welcomes all people, however, have to ask the question -- How many were legal and how many were illegal that have
setlled in Suffolk County? Ths is the REAL QUESTION!" Mar 31, 11 6:08 PM
Agree with Harbor (28) comments! We need to first and foremost have the
ability to inquire regarding a person's status! WE need to secure the workplace with Employee-Verifier mandated for all businesses! We have
to start somewhere! Right now we are no where since the spin misters
have had a say in our politics and quuality of life and security issues in our
communities! Stop the hate language and start dealing with the Rule of Law!
We cannot leave overcrowded houses with the people still living in closets
and basements! Let's address our problems in Suffolk County for the
taxpapers and stop this criminal behavior in our neighborhoods! Show us
you care by enforcing the laws! " Apr 5, 11 11:22 AM
Population lost in Montauk based on Census Bureau????
The shift in population is certainly on the upward swing in the
East End! Presently there are studies up island regarding the
new demagraphics of Long Island. Perhaps we should ask
Fred Thiele about this situation??? I believe he has been working
on this for years!!! " Apr 14, 11 4:27 AM
It is sad that a young adult acted in an irresponsible manner and she should be
accountable for her actions, namely, to clean up all the damaged signs and perform community service and with a public apology to the communities
" Apr 14, 11 6:50 PM
Southampton Village and East End has been for the past 5 years
has grown in density due to increase of undocumented/illegal workers
who have changed our Villages and Towns to a point where public
opinion and rule of law has been ignored! I believe it is time not to increase
our budgets but to really look at what's been spent on individuals who
require care and assistance in terms of food, lodging, schools and healthcare which have burdened the taxpayers. It is time to right the wrong and share
with all those who have entered illegally into our communities that what they
are doing is wrong and it is in fact breaking the law!! Let's face it and deal with all the issues that are effecting our bottom line and deal with it!!" Apr 15, 11 7:02 AM
I happened upon the filming of this show on Wed. in Southampton Village
and found it difficult to find a parking place -- however -- it appears that
the show "Royal Pains" will be filmed out in the Hamptons! Whatever
happened to a nice quiet place where the movie stars and producers and
actors can come and just enjoy the peace and quiet and the beauty of the
east end of Long Island? Please do not make it Hollywood East!" Apr 20, 11 7:28 PM
This Town is going in a direction of insolvency! We dishonor our citizens
who pay taxes, we dishonor our veterans, we dishonor our seniors and
honor those that BREAK THE LAW! School Budgets are increasing every
year with very little help from Albany! I am disasspointed by the lack of
representation of our citizens while we cater to those special interest groups!
All of Southampton is for sale! How sad it is that no one will standup for
this country!" May 11, 11 3:05 PM
It's simple: Legal vs. Illegal!! Cheap Labor and the Vote. Now, for reality --
the costs of supporting this underground workforce is carried by the taxpayer!
We have high unemployment not all due to illegal immigration, however, no
one has stated the increase in population and the environment! Will not support
college for illegal immigrants until we enforce our laws, namely, Employee-
Verify. We must stop supporting all the costs related to supporting individuals
that have BROKEN THE LAW! It's not OK to receive all the entitlements from
taxpayers. What has been allowed to continue East End is criminal. When
you get at the truth of something that has been hidden away, it must be revealed!
ENFORCE OUR LAWS! " May 12, 12 4:48 PM
The Southampton Police Dept. is actively controlling the Drug Trade and
appreciate their presence on Noyac Road. Thank you for keeping us safe." May 13, 12 11:30 AM
You are correct Double Standard: Suggest you gather your neighborhood and
attend meetings and voice your concerns. All citizens should VOTE at all elections!
" May 13, 12 2:15 PM
I am confident that this investigation will find that all were within the area of
law abiding Police investigations. My concern is that the public has responded
without having the facts. I find it questionable who is at fault when in fact the
newspapers and Ch. 12 had the story???? Discrediting individuals before the
facts are released do not serve the public very well! Our Southampton Community has been disgraced by innuendo. I have confidence that this will be settled
as soon as possible. " May 13, 12 4:44 PM
This is another counter to films regarding a very serious problem we have within the East End of Long Island. I wonder if the Senior Citizens would screen
"They Come To America" a film by Dennis Lynch to give a fair and balanced
report on this issue?? The NISI is, in my opinion, pushing illegal immigration
which is BREAKING OUR LAW!!! This is another effort to indoctrinate the US
Citizens!!! I can;t believe this is supported by the Anti-Bias Group and the Church!! " May 15, 12 8:33 PM
Federal Failure, Local Impact:
Todays illegal immigrants are not coming here to settle the frontier, or build a new
nation. Economic migrants, they're willing to break our laws and take advantage
of our generous social programs.
Illegal immigrants are motivated purely by self-interest, not by some noble calling.
But, when American citizens in their own self-interest object to illegal immigration, we're demonized.
As local citizens, we know the failure of Congress to enforce Federal Immigration
Laws impacts us at the Community, County and State level. We don't blame illegal immigrants for all of the problems we face, because that would be unfair.
However, illegal immigration makes all of our problems worse, from crime to over-
crowded schools to health care costs. The FBI says that the most violent drug
gang, MS-13, is well estblished in Suffolk County. Creminal Aliens make up more
than 10% of the Suffolk County jail inmate population. When we're not being called names by special interest groups, we hear them claim that illegal immigration is good for our economy. Really?? By their logic, California, the state with the highest number of illegal immigrants should be on top, not bankrupt! We reject the claim that "the system is broken". It's not broken! We've
had two decades of non-enforcement, and the Obama Admin. has made things
much worse. What do we in this community want? We simply want our laws
enforced. We want the American workplace secured, not just the borders. Our
State and local police must fully cooperate with ICE to identify and remove criminal aliens from our State. We're tired of hearing local official use the excuse "illegal immigration is a Federal issue". Code enforcement is a local
responsibility, not Federal. We want our building codes enforced, even if that
means cracking down on politically connect slumlords. Our schools don't ask
the legal status of parents. Our police don't check immigration status of those
arrested even when they refuse to provide ID. Slumlords actually prefer illegal
tenants. Hospitals provide free routine care to illegal then simply shift costs.
Today's illegal immigration is a slap in the face to lawful immigrants who play by the rules, and will end up destroying the American Middle Class.
" May 16, 12 6:42 AM
All the citizens of Suffolk County should demand of our leaders an immediate
investigation of individuals who enter our county with proof of citizenship.
Additionally, Employee Verify and Secure Communities should be mandated
for Suffolk County for all businesses. These are our demands: Enforce The
Law!!! " May 17, 12 1:19 PM
Sounds wonderful!!1 Will check it out!!" May 25, 12 4:39 PM
Should we feel safer with the results of this preliminary review/comments??
It appears that we are totally focused on not holding reported drug dealers
and we allow people to openly break our rule of law!!! " May 25, 12 6:56 PM
Question: Is Fred Thiele the only acceptable opinion regarding this subject
matter??" May 28, 12 9:55 AM
Great news!!! Perhaps there will be a voice of reason and a focus on representing
ALL the citizens within this assembly district!
" Jun 5, 12 6:07 PM
It is amazing how they plan to spread out the tax burden within the Town of
Southampton! It is apparent that costs are increasing and the size of classes
are increasing. It is also apparent that there is a FOR SALE sign on many
homes within the Town. Are we going to have a town of a high-end school educational system and a Ghost Town when you drive around the Hamptons!??" Jun 9, 12 12:12 PM
I believe we are in a very dangerous situation, namely, we cannot inquire the
status of the individuals, we cannot investigate overcrowding housing (you state
raids) -- The burden on all the taxpayers for these individuals and most
importantly, the living conditions in these motels and rental houses are unsafe.
Question: Where do the people end of living and does the taxpayer wind up
Congratulations to Dave Betts and the Code Enforcement Team who are keeping
our Southampton Town Safe. Keep up the good work!" Jun 11, 12 7:00 PM
In my opinion, a person is innocent until proven guilty. Why condemn
when we do not know all the facts? I fully support our Southampton Police Dept.
and yes, all have shown professionalism." Jun 13, 12 6:22 AM
